Precept Information 2026-7
Overview of Parish and Town Council Precepts
Every Parish and Town Council within the Borough has the responsibility of
determining its own precept charge each year. This precept forms part of
the overall Council Tax bill and is collected by Solihull Metropolitan
Borough Council (MBC) on behalf of the Parish or Town Councils. The
amount set as the precept is based on the annual budget agreed by each
Council and is converted into a yearly charge for each property.
How the Precept Charge is Calculated
The precept charge that each household pays is determined by the
property band in which their home is classified. There are a total of eight
property bands, which are assigned by the Valuation Office Agency. Details
of your property's tax band can be found on your Council Tax bill. For
comparison purposes across the country, Band D is typically used as the
standard reference point.
Increase in Precept
For the 2026-27 financial year, every household will see an increase in
their precept of £7 per year, which is approximately 13.5 pence per week.
Precept amounts for 2026/27 are not currently available but ours is £43.
Precept amounts for 2025/26 from neighbouring Parishes are Dickens
Heath £42.47. Hockley Heath £81.21 and Tidbury Green £43.15
Planned works
The primary reason for the increase is to fund several key projects,
including the resurfacing of the car park, the installation of a new gazebo,
and planned works within Blythe Valley. The Parish Council has engaged a
planning consultant to help with objecting to the amount of planning
applications for development recently received.
