Village Hall Roof

Published: 19 September 2016

The roof to Cheswick Green Village Hall is in need of urgent repair. A recent inspection revealed that the roof trusses to the original part of the Village Hall have twisted and are in imminent danger of the roof collapsing.

Immediate action was arranged initially by the Village Hall Management Committee to stabilise the roof by removing the roof tiles in order to take off some of the loading imposed upon the roof trusses. The Parish Council has instructed a Structural Engineer to produce a Specification of the work to be undertaken in order to rectify the problem. Competitive quotations will then be obtained in order that the repairs are implemented as soon as possible. There is a temporary tarpaulin in place to protect the exposed part of the building.

In the meantime, the 'large hall' is out of use. The later extended part of the building comprising the 'small hall', toilets and Parish Council Office are considered safe to use.

At this stage it is difficult to know how long the work will take. It is anticipated that the period may be somewhere in the region of five weeks.

The Parish Council will endeavour to keep residents updated.
